Hello Paddock Farms Neighbors,

We hope everyone is transitioning well to this typically hectic time of year! The Civic Association is back in action, with Movie Night later this month and Oktoberfest in late October. Read below for a few announcements and an important neighborhood alert.

Bring your chair or blanket and gather on the tennis court just before dusk in Paddock Park for this annual event. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase. Much thanks to Nolan Painting, who will be giving away free popcorn! Please let us know if you can volunteer some time at the snack table. It will be set up in the rear of the tennis courts. We look forward to seeing you there!

Oakmont Fire Company Open House: Monday, October 10th from 6:30 to 8:00pm. Fire education and demonstration for all ages. Stop by and visit your neighborhood volunteer fire company at 23 West Benedict Ave, Havertown.

Oktoberfest—Save the Date: Sunday, October 30th from 3-5pm in Paddock Park. Food, fun and music! If you are a homebrewer and wish to offer tastings, please email us at Volunteers and ideas are needed! The Eagles are scheduled to play in Dallas at 8:30pm, so there’s no reason to miss this year!

Gift from Kelly Music for Life: Our friends at Kelly Music for Life, hosts of the Park Summer Concert Series, Haverford Music Fest and Spring Fest, donated $100 to our Park Improvement Fund as they had a surplus at the end of the Summer Concert Series. We’ve raised over $750 this season for the fund. The Park Improvement Committee will be regrouping shortly to narrow down a list of initiatives. Send us an email if you are interested in joining the committee.

Neighborhood Alert: Suspicious activity was reported in the Paddock Farms Neighborhood on Monday 9/12. The Havertown Community Page on Facebook reported two attempted break-ins in the Lynnewood Section (area between Lawrence Road and Manoa Shopping Center). The resulting conversation brought attention to a suspicious man riding a bike throughout the Paddock Farms Neighborhood at both 11:15am and 4:30pm. The individual was reportedly riding slowly and looking up driveways and now appears to be a person of interest by Haverford Township Police Department in connection with an attempted break-in at Grasslyn and Colfax. All of this highlights the need to report suspicious activity. If you see something, say something. Please call 911 to report and The HTPD will be notified. Always be sure to lock your house and car and close your garage door.

PARK CONCERT WRAP-UP: We had a fantastic turnout and great weather for the Jeffrey Gaines concert that was held in Paddock Park this past Saturday. Around 200 adults, young adults and kids packed around the pavilion for a lovely evening of live music. You’ll find photos on Facebook and a video capturing some of the magic as Jeffrey allowed some young performers play air guitar alongside him. Members of the PFCA, Park Improvement Committee and other volunteers sold concessions to fundraise for the Park Improvement Fund. In addition, we held a 50/50 raffle where the winner, Lianna Cervo, daughter of John Cervo donated all but $1 of her nearly $200 winnings back to Improvement Fund! It was a tremendous act of generosity and will not be forgotten! Thank you! All in all, we raised $657 at the concert! Please support the local businesses that donated for our cause: Tony Roni’s of Havertown, Krispy Kreme, Havertown Beverage and Giant Food Stores. Philly Soft Pretzel of Broomall extended a discount to us. Thank you to our concession sponsors, the event coordinators Kelly Music for Life and the concert volunteers and sponsors--Adam Mechanical, Nolan Painting, Oakmont Pub, Gutter Helmet, iRadio Philly and Haverford Township Civic Council. And let’s not forget, thank you to all who attended! It’s always wonderful to pair a great time with a great cause! Three more summer park performances remain throughout the Township.
