The Weekend! Reminder: Tuesday's New Leadership Org Meeting

E-mail sent by Webmaster Webmaster - Master Account, Friday, February 24th, 2017 @ 8:57am

Happy Friday Paddock Farms Neighbors,

The weekend and warm weather is upon us!

Please remember that our PFCA New Leadership Organizational Meeting is 8pm on Tuesday the 28th at the Nolan Painting office on W. Hillcrest. The PFCA is an invaluable asset to our neighborhood and its continued existence is helpful for us all. Tuesday’s meeting will gather individuals interested in supporting the PFCA in any way possible. Ideally 4-5 individuals (or couples) will take on the leadership roles. The time commitment for anyone involved is minimal. The outgoing board will continually help with the transition. Beyond leadership roles, there are other important functions that may interest you, including, but not limited to:

>>Communications – Website, Newsletters (4-5/year), Social Media, Correspondence

>>Finance – oversee bank account, issue checks/payments as needed

>>Event Coordinators – take the lead on one specific event; Main Events/Activities: Egg Hunt, Yard Sale, 4th of July, Movie Night, Oktoberfest

It’s vital that we have a solid turnout to ensure the sustained success of the PFCA.

Thank you all for your support!

Best,

PFCA Board

Paddock Farms Civic Association
NEW LEADERSHIP MEETING

Interested leaders, volunteers, helping hands, etc. please attend!

Tuesday, February 28th @ 8pm
Nolan Painting Office, 181 W. Hillcrest Ave

---------------------------------------------------------------

New leadership is being sought for our 25+ year old civic association that maintains a well-connected neighborhood, brings joy to young and old, serves our community, enhances our park and elevates our home values. The current leadership has been in place for 3 years and it is time to pass the torch. We’ll need 4-5 individuals (or couples) to take over. Documentation, repeatable processes and funding are all in place. Time commitment is minimal, as the board typically meets 4 times per year. Transitional help will certainly be provided throughout. The main events are the Egg Hunt, 4th of July and Oktoberfest. Small-scale events and activites are also on the schedule. Whether you can join the board, want to help with a specific event or want to learn how you can be involved, please come out on Tuesday, February 28th at 8pm. It’s important that this meeting is well-attended. Without new leadership, 2017 PFCA events and activities will not happen. FYI: Paddock Park has a separate Improvement Committee that works under the PFCA. This meeting is not to discuss issues.

YOUR SUPPORT IS CRITICAL!

Food Bank Donations are VERY LIGHT! Please donate this weekend!

E-mail sent by Webmaster Webmaster - Master Account, Friday, November 18th, 2016 @ 11:07am

Hello Paddock Farms Neighbors,

As we head into the final days of our food bank donation drive we want to report that collections are very light. We have just 3 bags of donations collected compared to the 80 bags we collected last year. Please donate to our cause this year if you can! We understand there are many charities and organizations asking for donations (especially this time of year), however it’s surprising to see this much of a decline for our own efforts. Our donations go to the Hope Food Bank located at the Hope United Methodist Church on Steel Road in Havertown. They open their doors just once a month to hungry families and individuals right here in town. All are welcome. Many factors lead folks to reach out to food banks for assistance—continuing financial challenges, unexpected job loss or illness can contribute to their need. Betty Druce (610-637-3857 or druceb@comcast.net) offers up her home as the collection point for our food drive.

DROP OFF ALL THIS WEEKEND!
Friday, Saturday, Sunday
128 Charles Drive, Havertown
*you can knock or leave your donation by the garage door

What is needed?

Items urgently needed: paper towels, bathroom tissue, toothbrushes w/ caps, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, laundry and dishwashing detergent, coffee, juices, jelly, condiments, canned chicken, potatoes, fruit, chili, canned pasta meals, canned soups.

Low supply items: pancake syrup, baked beans, canned soups (no tomato), cereal (no oatmeal), pasta sauces, pasta (not spaghetti), rice, mac and cheese. Cash donations are also accepted. No glass when possible.

Thank you for your support!!!

All the best,
PFCA

If you can help in just this instance or if you’d like to serve as block captain, please email paddockfarms@gmail.com and we’ll get the newsletters in your hands. Thanks in advance!

THANK YOU! Oktoberfest was a great success and the donut eating contest provided some especially awesome moments. We’re certain that feature is here to stay. Much thanks to Krispy Kreme for the donut donation and to our volunteers that helped hand out treats, setup and cleanup!

LAST PUSH for FOOD BANK DONATIONS! We are quickly approaching our deadline for our 2016 Donation Drive to support Hope Food Bank of Havertown. Donations are due no later than Sunday, November 20th. Please support our cause this year as hunger exists right here in Havertown! Betty Druce is allowing her home at 128 Charles Drive to serve as the collection location for the third year in a row. Thank you Betty! Please contact her (610-637-3857 or druceb@comcast.net) to arrange a drop off. We're excited to see how much we can collect! Thanks for your continued support of our charity work!

Food Bank urgent need items: paper towels, bathroom tissue, toothbrushes w/ caps, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, laundry and dishwashing detergent, coffee, juices, jelly, condiments, canned chicken, potatoes, fruit, chili, canned pasta meals, canned soups. Low supply items: pancake syrup, baked beans, canned soups (no tomato), cereal (no oatmeal), pasta sauces, pasta  (not spaghetti), rice, mac and cheese. Cash donations accepted. No glass when possible.

HOLIDAY LUMINARY sales are now open! Join your neighbors as we light up the light on December 24th. Order forms are included with the newsletter or you can visit our website and pay via PayPal. You may also chose to print an order form here. Proceeds from the sale support the PFCA.

Please email us with any questions, feedback or ideas.

Bring your chair or blanket and gather on the tennis court just before dusk in Paddock Park for this annual event. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase. Much thanks to Nolan Painting, who will be giving away free popcorn! Please let us know if you can volunteer some time at the snack table. It will be set up in the rear of the tennis courts. We look forward to seeing you there!

Friends of Daniel Cooper Team for Parkway Run and Walk, Sunday September 25th: Support and celebrate Paddock Farms resident Daniel Cooper’s 11 years of being cancer free. Oktoberfest—Save the Date: Sunday, October 30th from 3-5pm in Paddock Park. Food, fun and music! If you are a homebrewer and wish to offer tastings, please email us at paddockfarms@gmail.com. Volunteers and ideas are needed! The Eagles are scheduled to play in Dallas at 8:30pm, so there’s no reason to miss this year!

Gift from Kelly Music for Life: Our friends at Kelly Music for Life, hosts of the Park Summer Concert Series, Haverford Music Fest and Spring Fest, donated $100 to our Park Improvement Fund as they had a surplus at the end of the Summer Concert Series. We’ve raised over $750 this season for the fund. The Park Improvement Committee will be regrouping shortly to narrow down a list of initiatives. Send us an email if you are interested in joining the committee.

Neighborhood Alert: Suspicious activity was reported in the Paddock Farms Neighborhood on Monday 9/12. The Havertown Community Page on Facebook reported two attempted break-ins in the Lynnewood Section (area between Lawrence Road and Manoa Shopping Center). The resulting conversation brought attention to a suspicious man riding a bike throughout the Paddock Farms Neighborhood at both 11:15am and 4:30pm. The individual was reportedly riding slowly and looking up driveways and now appears to be a person of interest by Haverford Township Police Department in connection with an attempted break-in at Grasslyn and Colfax. All of this highlights the need to report suspicious activity. If you see something, say something. Please call 911 to report and The HTPD will be notified. Always be sure to lock your house and car and close your garage door.

Email us at paddockfarms@gmail.com with your questions, feedback and ideas.

Hello Paddock Farms Neighbors,

MEETING DATE CHANGE--the PFCA Board is meeting is now next Tuesday, May 24th at 8pm. Help is needed to plan for this year’s 4th of July celebration and the fundraising efforts at the June 18th Concert in Paddock Park. We’ll be making a final decision on whether to move the 4th of July festivities a week earlier. Please attend this meeting if you can help with planning! The meeting will be held a board member's home--please email for the address: paddockfarms@gmail.com

Electronic Recycling event reminder: Responsibly recycle unused, obsolete and broken electronics: cell phones, cameras and anything with a plug (except large appliances) on Saturday, May 21st from 9am-noon. There will be a joint township drop off at Malin Road and West Chester Pike in Broomall, across from the fire station.

Thanks in advance for your willingness to help!

All the best,
PFCA Board
