**A Message from The Paddock Park Improvement Group **
The Paddock Park Improvement Group is proud to announce that new playground equipment is on order for our beloved park. While our group does has a general focus to enhance the play area, the replacement of the toddler playset became a top priority after its sudden removal in November 2017 due to a rotting foundation. Working closely with Haverford Township officials and the park crew, as well as with the support of Commissioners Siegel and McCloskey, our group advocated for the playset’s replacement using available funding. A thorough (but longer than expected) evaluation period resulted in the choice of Playworld Systems’ 3-slide/climber/tunnel set designed for 2-5 year olds. Our group led the evaluation, timed the purchase to take advantage of a sale and negotiated $0 freight costs that allowed us to include a see-saw, balance beam/walking stumps and a “cozy cocoon” with the purchase. The new equipment will elevate our park to another level, while blending with the color scheme of our existing play structures.
The equipment is on order with a timeline for delivery in the next 5-7 weeks, however the install will occur in September. The install estimate is set for September primarily because the Township-certified installer leads the parks crew, which stays continually busy throughout the grass-mowing season. Outsourcing the installation is cost-prohibitive, with an estimate of over $12K to install. Furthermore, a community build is not an option as: 1) a certified installer would be required (and not available) 2) the materials are metal and plastic (as opposed to a wood structure) and 3) there is a liability-factor that we wish to avoid. Additionally, with camps set to begin in June, a construction zone in the park would be a hazard. Overall, this is great news that Paddock Park will have awesome new equipment while the fantastic late-summer/early fall weather is in place! Much thanks to the Improvement Group members, Township officials, Commissioners and vendors for their collaboration, insights and patience throughout this process. We look forward to this and many other enhancements in the future as we build a better Paddock Park! Follow us on Facebook (join our group) and please contact us to get involved. We will continue to provide updates on this and upcoming group initiatives.
As a side note, the Township will address the merry-go-round destroyed by a fallen tree in a separate budgetary request.

Friends and Neighbors:
We are in need of Block Captains to help distribute flyers and spread the work periodically for upcoming PFCA events that take place about 4-5 times a year. The volunteer commitment is minimal but plays an important role in keeping the civic association active. Please take a look at the blocks in the below link and consider taking on the block captian role for your area, then email us at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can update our list.
If you have already agreed to be a block captain, please email us at email@example.com or comment on our Facebook page that you are willing to continue on this role.
Questions or want to volunteer? Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Happy Friday Paddock Farms Neighbors,
The weekend and warm weather is upon us!
Please remember that our PFCA New Leadership Organizational Meeting is 8pm on Tuesday the 28th at the Nolan Painting office on W. Hillcrest. The PFCA is an invaluable asset to our neighborhood and its continued existence is helpful for us all. Tuesday’s meeting will gather individuals interested in supporting the PFCA in any way possible. Ideally 4-5 individuals (or couples) will take on the leadership roles. The time commitment for anyone involved is minimal. The outgoing board will continually help with the transition. Beyond leadership roles, there are other important functions that may interest you, including, but not limited to:
>>Communications – Website, Newsletters (4-5/year), Social Media, Correspondence
>>Finance – oversee bank account, issue checks/payments as needed
>>Event Coordinators – take the lead on one specific event; Main Events/Activities: Egg Hunt, Yard Sale, 4th of July, Movie Night, Oktoberfest
It’s vital that we have a solid turnout to ensure the sustained success of the PFCA.
Thank you all for your support!
Paddock Farms Civic Association
NEW LEADERSHIP MEETING
Interested leaders, volunteers, helping hands, etc. please attend!
Tuesday, February 28th @ 8pm
Nolan Painting Office, 181 W. Hillcrest Ave
New leadership is being sought for our 25+ year old civic association that maintains a well-connected neighborhood, brings joy to young and old, serves our community, enhances our park and elevates our home values. The current leadership has been in place for 3 years and it is time to pass the torch. We’ll need 4-5 individuals (or couples) to take over. Documentation, repeatable processes and funding are all in place. Time commitment is minimal, as the board typically meets 4 times per year. Transitional help will certainly be provided throughout. The main events are the Egg Hunt, 4th of July and Oktoberfest. Small-scale events and activites are also on the schedule. Whether you can join the board, want to help with a specific event or want to learn how you can be involved, please come out on Tuesday, February 28th at 8pm. It’s important that this meeting is well-attended. Without new leadership, 2017 PFCA events and activities will not happen. FYI: Paddock Park has a separate Improvement Committee that works under the PFCA. This meeting is not to discuss issues.
YOUR SUPPORT IS CRITICAL!

All the best,
Hello Paddock Farms Neighbors,
Santa will be in the neighborhood TODAY, Sunday the 11th! Oakmont Fire Co. will be parading around Santa and his helpers on their ladder truck, blasting holiday music, handing out treats and posing for photos. There is no set route or timeline, but they expect to be in the neighborhood from 12-5pm. Listen for the sirens and head outside. You may have to walk and find the truck to ensure you get to see Santa and the fire truck. Our friends at Oakmont Fire Co. initiate, organize and operate this visit. Much thanks to Oakmont Fire Co.!
All the best,
